Why study in cba
What makes CBA different from other language schools?
What most distinguishes us is the warm, relaxed atmosphere at our school and our involvement in the local community. We are commited to providing a high quality education in Spanish and a rich cultural immersion experience to every student. We are a non-lucrative organization; all profits (10% of your tuition) are used to fund social projects. The owners of CBA have founded succesful development projects, such as Nucleos Familiares, which provides educational materials to seventy children who otherwise would do agricultural work rather than attending school. Furthermore, CBA has numerous contacts at development organizations. We work hard to connect you with volunteer opportunities that match your talents and interests.
The final aspect that distinguishes us from other schools is the rigorous training our teachers have recieved. We require our teachers to pass an exam in which they must have an expert understanding of not only Spanish grammar but of Guatemalan history, politics, literature, tourism and indigenous culture. Our objective is to provide you with a holistic education in which you will learn excellent Spanish while learning about the country you are visiting.
We provide the following:
Excellent, affordable immersion classes with individual instruction;
Mayan language classes;
Educated, experienced and resourceful teachers;
Daily group activities to explore the city and surrounding areas;
Round table discussions on social, economic and political issues;
Accommodation with a Guatemalan family (if desired);
Opportunities to volunteer in the community; and
Email and facsimile access (at a nominal fee)
